1960 Impala

This 1960 Impala is a one owner, family heirloom project that was chosen to be a SEMA feature vehicle by Sherwin Williams to showcase their paint products. Brought to us as a severely rusted shell of a car, it underwent a full custom build. The foundation is a REVO chassis from Roadster Shop, chosen for it's rigidity and ride quality it brought the handling of this full size Chevrolet into the 21st century. The drivetrain is a mix of old and new. Starting with the original 348 c.i. W engine that was treated to a full rebuild with the best parts available, updated with a roller camshaft and roller rockers and topped off with an original tri power intake manifold with a trio of billet throttle body's from Autotrend EFI running on a Holley Dominator ECU for modern performance and reliability. The engine was dressed with a Tru Track system from Billet Specialties and custom headers were made in house to fit the chassis. The engine is backed by a GM 4L60E overdrive transmission also controlled by the Dominator system for a combination of great acceleration along with good highway cruising ability. A 9 inch rear axle with Tru Track plants the power to the ground. The car is riding on custom wheels from Billet Specialties wrapped with Continental performance tires. The body underwent a massive restoration effort due to the extensive rust damage. There were many hours making panels to replace rust damage due to a lack of aftermarket sheetmetal availability. Extra effort was put into the fit and finish to make the end result better than new. The color was a custom mix to the customer's specifications. With the intentions of being a feature vechile at SEMA the decision was made to have all of the cars trim chrome plated. The bumpers were also customized, welded together to make them one piece they were also sectioned and fitted tighter to the body for a tighter fit and cleaner look. The interior was customized with leather to mimic some of the original cloth patterns and plastic trim pieces were replaced with custom made stainless items. The seats are power adjustable and the car is equipped with Vintage Air along with tilt steering and custom gauges fitted in the factory dash.
